The idea for Knot Clothing & Belt Co was conceived in the Finger Lakes Region of New York, where wine is the major attraction and golf isn’t far behind. Personally, we can’t think of a better combination. After eighteen holes, it’s time to hit the lake— on either beach or boat. Alongside your best friends and of course enough cocktails to last well into the evening. Why knot build a lifestyle brand that stands for exactly that?

While working with other small clothing companies and having the chance to chat with store-owners and buyers, we quickly learned what was driving the clothing market. And more importantly, what it was missing. We noticed a common thread with what customers wanted and what established brands didn’t have – the grosgrain ribbon belt.

For two years we researched manufacturing solutions, sourced the best materials, and designed the first collection of ribbon belts. It was 2009 when Knot Clothing & Belt Co. was officially born in Charleston, South Carolina. There is just something about the sound of a palmetto in the breeze, the feeling of a bourbon drink in your hand, and the warmth of the sun in your face.

Knot sells belts and accessories that you look great in, but that also represents all the best moments in your life.
